Ithaca Farmer's Market

While I was at Saltonstall, I went to Ithaca's farmer's market on Saturday. It was a really big, vibrant, and fun market with more than 100 of vendors with specialty food, music, local veggies, fruits, wines and crafts. I wish I could have gone back one more time.. I also regret I didn't take good photos that day..

Ithaca is small but has good sense of community and understanding of different life styles of different people. Also people supports local farmer's and sustainable living practices for environment.

Look at these little hippies-^^

Beautiful, beautiful flowers- Flower arrangement here is just stunning. You can't really find these kinds at NYC's farmer's market.

Food at Saltonstall

We have a colony chef, Denise, who cooks delicious dinner every day. It is awesome to head to a dining table after a long day of work and reading books in the studio. And you don't have to cook for a month!! (altho I had to make some kimchi..^^)
I can't get out to downtown Ithaca since I don't have a car. But I'm very well fed here w/o going to grocery at all.

I'm here in Ithaca for a summer fellowship at Saltonstall foundation for the Arts http://www.saltonstall.org

It is really peaceful and refreshing to be around the nature. It's been raining a lot. But even looking at raining in the field feels great. Especially, when you live in the city you get to appreciate even more to have this time and space away from all the noise in your life. I miss Young and some of my friends but I don't miss life in New York yet.

Solo show at Earlville Opera House

Just came back from trip to Earlville and to Toronto.
Earlville was a beautiful quiet town and Young and I had a great time. Many ppl. from Earlville and cities around, Syracuse, Norwich, and Hamilton came to the opening.

We drove up to Toronto after the opening to visit my brother and Young's uncle.

7 grain bread

This is my 5th bread and I finally made it perfect. It was somehow so hard for me to rise bread right and have been making very dense ugly bread. -.-;;
I have a bread machine but I only knead dough with it and rise dough out of the machine.

Here is the recipe for 1 and half pound bread:
1 1/4 Cups Water
2 Ts Butter
3 Cups Bread flour
1/2 Cup 7 grain mix
3 Ts Brown Sugar
1 Ts Dry milk
1 1/4 Salt
1 ts Quick dry yeast

1. Mix the Ingredient in the bread machine.
2. Set the machine in the 'Dough' mode.
3. Wait until it's kneaded well and let it rise for an hour.
4. Take dough out and make it into a shape, then put it in a pound cake baking pan.
5. Let it rise again for another 40minutes to hour until the size becomes double.
6. Bake it in 375 degree oven for 45 minutes.

It always feels great to have a show and get feedbacks from the audience. I really really dislike speaking in front of ppl especially about my art work. But it is always worth doing it. Artist talk at Clemson Univ. was one of the best talk I ever had. I could really feel connected with the audience and they were really understanding and appreciating my art.

Also, I had a great time working with Denise, Heidi and Jason.

집 구석구석을 자꾸자꾸 쳐다본다.
혼자 살 때는 없던 버릇.
전에는 필요한 것이 있으면 그것으로 땡. 깨끗하면 땡이었는데
이쁜것들로 구색을 맞추며 구석구석을 꾸미는게 넘 신난다.
자기 주변을 꾸미는 것 만으로 creative하고 happy해 질수 있는 요즘.

내 작업에도 같이 에너지를 넣어줘야겠지..?
